Broadband For 1,400 Island Homes & Businesses

By Tue, 22 May 2012 11:19AM

BT has today announced plans to make faster broadband available to a further 1,400 homes and businesses on the Isle of Wight.

Yarmouth is the latest community on the Island to be included in the roll-out.

It is due to be upgraded by the Spring of next year.

The investment will make available download speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps) – more than double the speed previously available from BT.

The faster broadband is already available in Ventnor, Bembridge and Wootton Bridge.

John Weaver, BT’s South East regional director, said: "The rapid roll-out of faster broadband offers a great opportunity for the Isle of Wight and the South East as a whole. It is an important part of BT’s plans to help ensure that the Island is able to take full advantage of the communications revolution."
