Flooding on Boxing Day

A flood alert was issued for the Eastern Yar on Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, a host of roads were affected by flooding and Niton Road, Rookley was  closed due to flooding.

Elsewhere, a number of landslides were also reported:

Princelett Shute, Apse Heath, closed due to a landslide.
Due to a landslip, the revetment between Sandown and Shanklin by Littlestairs Steps is closed.
Longdown Steps between South Street and St Catherine's Street, Ventnor are closed due to a wall collapse.

According to our Virtual Journalists there is flooding at the following locations:

From St George's Football Club, Newport to Rookley.
Between Newport and Yarmouth, especially at Shalfleet and on Forest Road.
Coach Lane, Brading.
Newport to Blackwater and on to Arreton.
Middle Road at the Blacksmiths pub.
Calbourne and Brighstone.
Brading, at the Bugle Pub.
