By Emma Philo Sat, 20 October 2012 10:12AM

Life-saving volunteers on the Isle of Wight are on Saturday being thanked for their long service and commitment.

Eight members of the Sandown and Shanklin Independent lifeboat are receiving the Queen's Jubilee Medal.

All those receiving the accolade have worked voluntarily and are key members of the frontline emergency service.

Those receiving the medals are: Senior Coxswain & Operations Manager Mark Birch, 2nd Coxswain Richard Chantler, Crew David Williams, Crew Stephen Woodhams, Crew Daren Sands, Launcher Barry Chantler, Launcher & Secretary Ian Hunt and Launcher & Chairman Ron Teasdale.
