Major deal for GKN

By Isle of Wight Radio Reporter Tue, 09 October 2012 9:45AM

GKN has completed the acquisition of Volvo Aero.

GKN said the deal with the aero engine division of AB Volvo would combine world leaders in both aero structures and aero engine components.

Volvo Aero designs, engineers and manufactures components and sub-assemblies for aircraft engine turbines, and supplies all the major aero engine manufacturers.

It employs around 3,000 staff based in Sweden, Norway and the USA.

GKN has a factory in Cowes.
