Teens rescued after beach walk

By Emma Philo Mon, 08 October 2012 11:29AM

Two teengers have been rescued after getting lost during a beach walk in the West Wight on Sunday.

The Needles coastguard was called out just before 7pm.

The girls had gone for a walk between Cranmore and Yarmouth, but became disorientated in the fading light.

Coastguard praised both of the girls, who had both been carrying a mobile phone. One of them called a relative in Cranmore who then alerted the coastguard.

The pair were evacuated from the beach by the RNLI Yarmouth lifeboat, which took them back to shore at Yarmouth to meet relatives.
