Burst water main in Ryde

By Emma Philo Tue, 02 October 2012 9:42AM

A water main has burst in Ryde

It happened at 7am on Tuesday in St John's Road, and according to Southern Water an inspector was dispatched to investigate at 7:20am

A Southern Water spokesperson said: "We had about two calls from customers in the area to report no water.

"Repair crews have found the burst and are currently carrying out repairs. Traffic management is currently in place while repair work is underway.

"We can assure customers we're working as fast as we can to complete our work and we hope to complete repairs by lunchtime today."

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding”.

Temporary traffic lights were being used to control traffic on St John's Road at Monkton Street.

Southern Vectis also tweeted that Bennett Street in Ryde is closed, with routes 2,3 and 8 diverting via Monkton Street, Wood Street, Dover Street to Ryde library.

Outbound traffic wasn't being affected.
