Crime and disorder and litter and noise are being cited by Islanders concerned about plans to change Ventnor Rugby Club’s license to sell alcohol.
The Licensing Sub Committee will meet on Wednesday to consider the application for the Whitwell Road club to allow non-members easy access to the venue.
Currently they must become members and that takes 48 hours. It means the club cannot be hired out for parties by non-members.
If the request is granted it could pave the way for more events there and the plans have prompted 29 comments to Isle of Wight Council.
Island Police are calling for restrictions on when music can be played outdoors, advance notification of outdoor events and a minimum age limit on people wanting to hire the venue.
Environmental Health Officers want restrictions on the noise created by outdoor events and on the way rubbish, including empty bottles, are disposed of.
