Mum Luisa Hillard who decided to clear the brambles herself.
A developer of housing in East Cowes has apologised for the state of a footpath outside a school.
Barratt Homes, which owns the Hawthorn Meadows Estate, left the path until it was mostly covered by brambles at the start of the new term.
Schoolchildren affected
Hundreds of parents and children attending Queensgate Primary were forced to dodge the spiky bushes.
Isle of Wight Council says it acted on a complaint earlier this summer and mum Luisa Hillard stepped in to clear the brambles, after children were caught on the bushes.
Statement
In a statement to Isle of Wight Radio the developer said, "The footpath at Hawthorn Meadows has now been tended to and Barratt would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
We would also like to assure residents that the footpath will be adequately maintained going forward."
