Sunny Saturday for Bestival’s Blue Monday headliners

Sunny Saturday for Bestival’s Blue Monday headliners
By Emma Philo Sat, 08 September 2012 11:38PM

It may not have been a Monday, and it certainly wasn’t Blue. Nonetheless, Bestival-goers rocked to the hit 80s melody from Saturday night headline act New Order.

One of the UK’s most enduring bands belted out a string of classic anthems from an armoury stretching back three decades. Lead singer Bernard Sumner closed the set thanking the "fantastic" audience and proclaiming Bestival to be "the best festival!"

The reformed band were just one of an amazing array of 300 acts across the weekend. Earlier on Saturday, the Main Stage was graced with more reminders of the eighties, including the ‘Magic Number’ hip-hop trio De La Soul and pop siblings Sister Sledge.

The Robin Hill event has basked in temperatures reaching the late 20 degrees Celsius, a far cry from the scenes of mud and downpours that dogged the Isle of Wight Festival back in June.

A fantastic weekend of fun in the sun is set to come to a close tomorrow night with, among others, a much-anticipated set from soul legend Stevie Wonder.
