50,000 music lovers at the sold-out Bestival are gearing up for the first of the major music acts, Florence and the Machine.
The Friday headliner is a particular favourite of Bestival organiser Rob da Bank, who helped initially discover the "You've Got the Love" singer.
Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio's Glyn Taylor, Rob da Bank said: "I never set out to book a band that's in the charts, or anything like that, we don't need to have those current pop star-type people. But Florence is part of the Bestival family - she's done Bestival and Camp Bestival numerous times. I helped discover her through Radio One, always been a huge supporter of her since I saw her playing to like a hundred people in a little pub in London. So she is absolutely part of our fabric and I'm really chuffed that she's coming back!"
Lead singer Florence Welch added: "This year we are headlining the one and only Bestival on the Main Stage on the Friday night after the amazing The xx - we hope we'll find you there in the wilderness with us! Lots of love, Florence + The Machine.”
Organisers said the 2012 line-up is the finest in the event's nine-year history and includes sets from the legendary Stevie Wonder, New Order, The xx, Sigur Rós, Friendly Fires, Orbital, Frank Ocean, Hot Chip, Annie Mac Presents, Skream & Benga, Four Tet (going back to back with Caribou).
