Largely smooth journeys and fine weather have combined for a great start to Bestival 2012.
As the Robin Hill site geared up to welcome more than 50,000 music fans, travel plans put in place to avoid a repeat of problems earlier this summer at the Isle of Wight Festival appear to have paid off.
Only minor delays were reported, with council officials reporting that roads had been experiencing the same levels of queues as is usual for peak-hour travel.
Campers have been arriving at the Newport site throughout the day, with main acts due to begin tomorrow (Friday).
US music legend Stevie Wonder, Florence and the Machine and New Order are among the acts set to delight the crowds during the four day event.
Meanwhile, the weather for the weekend is expected to remain largely dry and sunny.
