UD at 20:30 on Sunday evening:
Water remained off more than 12 hours after the incident. According to an update from Southern Water posted at 18:35...
"Our engineers are still working to restore water supply. We thank you for your continued patience.
We are now recharging the water main. This will allow customer supplies to be gradually restored. During this period, discolouration and low pressure may be experienced. Please be assured that this water is safe to drink, and will return to normal in due course. We estimate that customer supplies will be back on within the next hour."
Isle of Wight Radio heard unconfirmed reports that emergency supplies had been handed out in the Swanmore Road area.
