Four Rescued At Sea

Four Rescued At Sea
By Isle of Wight Radio Reporter Tue, 21 August 2012 9:53AM

Four people have been rescued at sea by Bembridge RNLI.

Crews received an emergency call at 01:30am (Tuesday).

They attended a 35 foot yacht with four people onboard approximately three miles east of Bembridge RNLI station.

The yacht was sailing from Plymouth to Chichester when the sailors onboard reported they were exhausted and experiencing a possible mechanical problem.

They were towed into Bembridge Harbour.

Earlier in the evening the Inshore lifeboat was launched to reports of two people trapped on Bembridge fort due to the tidal conditions.

Crews completed a search and found nothing.

It's believed the incident was a false alarm with good intent.
