Hundreds see launch of local milk campaign

Hundreds see launch of local milk campaign
By Emma Philo Sun, 19 August 2012 7:38AM

Hundreds have seen the launch of a campaign to encourage Islanders and visitors to buy Isle of Wight milk.

A petition was also started at the ‘I love Isle of Wight Milk’ stand at the Garlic Festival in Newchurch.

The campaign has brought Island dairy farmers together to promote their milk because they are currently being paid less than the cost of production by milk processors. The problem is made worse because of the added transport costs associated with living on the Island.

The campaign is backed by Isle of Wight MP Andrew Turner and the National Farmers Union, as well as local media including Isle of Wight Radio, the Isle of Wight Beacon magazine and Isle of Wight County Press.
