Police have released more details about a crash in Ventnor, which left two officers and an elderly driver with injuries.

A marked police Volvo travelling along Military Road just before 7:10pm on Saturday (11 August) was in collision with a Toyota Yaris.

The road, at its junction with Chine Lane, was closed for a short time for the removal of debris. Both roads have since re-opened.

The 80-year-old driver of the Yaris, from the Niton area, was taken to St Mary's hospital with a broken collarbone and both police officers suffered whiplash injuries.

All three have since been allowed to leave St Mary's hospital.

Police said that an investigation into the exact circumstances of the collision is underway.
