Heavy Seas Rescue for Family of Four

Heavy Seas Rescue for Family of Four
By Charles Ballard Mon, 13 August 2012 10:30AM

A family were caught adrift in the Solent yesterday after engine failure. The 28ft motor-cruiser was heading towards Island Harbour from Lymington.

The lifeboat was called out to aid in the assistance, in some testing conditions. When the lifeboat arrived they found the boat was being hit with two metre high swell.

Eventually one the lifeboat crew managed to get on board the boat to attach the tow rope, while on the boat Peter Cunningham the crew member was almost swept into the sea.

Once the rope was secure they were brought into the harbour, to be transferred to a local harbour commission boat the rest of the way.
