The sun shone on the main parade of Ryde Carnival, which took place on Saturday (11 August).

The sun shone on the main parade of Ryde Carnival, which took place on Saturday (11 August).

Colourful costumes and fabulous floats took part in the procession through the town's streets.

The carnival is reputed to be the oldest in the country and celebrates its 124th anniversary in 2012. 

The illuminated parade takes place on 1 September.
