Newport IW have beaten New Milton Town 0-2 in this Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup; Newport will now play Moneyfields in the next round.

As soon as the match started, Newport were in control and it wasn’t long before they created their first chance, Iain Seabrook crossing into the box but it was just too far in front of Giancarlo Giancovich for him to make contact on 7 mins.

On 9 minutes, the lively Alek Przespolewski had an effort but shot just wide however, it didn’t take him long to find the target. The new signing broke from midfield and released a stunning 25 yard shot which flew into the top right hand corner leaving the New Milton goalkeeper flat-footed, to the delight of the travelling crowd.

On 21 minutes, New Milton had their first decent effort, Proctor skipping down the left wing went past Ross Gregory, then Oli Fleming but his chance was cleared by Jon Holmes.

After half an hour, Iain Seabrook had his shot go just over the bar but a minute later, man of the moment Przespolewski was there again with another strike from the edge of the box which drilled low into the bottom right hand corner of the goal leaving Hookway scrambling to make the save.

Just before half time, Prezespolewski was involved once again, this time feeding the ball to Giancovich who in turn laid the ball off to Seabrook; his 25 yard strike being tipped over the bar by the keeper.

The second half started much the same as the first half finished but on 50 minutes the ball found New Milton’s Witcher who scuffed his shot.

On 68 minutes, Prezespolewski was involved again. The ball bobbled around in the penalty area and eventually found the midfielder who saw his shot come back off the inside of the post.

As the game came to a close, Ross Gregory had a powerful effort saved but all in all, Newport looked very good and well worth the win.
