Cowes Week Day One Entertainment Proves To Be Exhilarating

Cowes Week Day One Entertainment Proves To Be Exhilarating
By Lucy Morgan Sat, 11 August 2012 9:51PM

A Royal Navy Lynx helicopter performed a breathtaking display over the heads of Cowes Week visitors.

It gave Day 1 of the Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week 2012 an exhilarating feel.

The aircraft performed an impressive number of manoeuvres in a 15 minute display over the Sail For Gold Bar on the Parade. Hovering just off shore, the crew even took time to wave to the crowd from their cockpit.

A short time later, the Sail For Gold venue lived up to its name. Cowes Week stalwarts Jimmy's Big Fish interrupted their set to allow the crowd to watch Team GB's Mo Farah in the last few staged of the 5000m final at Olympic Park. The runner took his second gold, to resounding cheers from those gathered on The Parade, before the band returned to their microphones.
