Witness Appeal After Shalfleet Crash

Police are appealing for more witnesses after a road traffic collision near Shalfleet. 

A blue Renault Megane collided with a silver Vauxhall Astra at the junction between Yarmouth Road and Underwood Lane at approximately 3.30pm on Monday, July 30, 2012. 

The Vauxhall driver, a 60 year old man from Porchfield, Isle of Wight suffered serious injuries, which were not life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment. 

The Renault driver, a 27-year -old man from Newport, Isle of Wight was also taken to hospital. He received minor injuries. 

The road was closed for two hours while emergency services dealt with the scene. 

Police are appealing for anyone else who witnessed the collision to contact PC 1459 Geoff Turner of the Roads Policing Unit based at Shanklin police station by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
