Newport F.C. got their season off to the best possible start on Saturday, coming out on top in a seven-goal thriller.
Steve Brougham's men beat Hayling United 4-3 at St George's Park, to go seventh in the Wessex Premier League Table.
The Port had to come from behind twice to clinch victory.
The visitors struck first, before Alex Przepolewski's equaliser made the score 1-1 at half time.
That pattern repeated itself at the start of the second half, with Przepolewski levelling after Hayling took the lead again.
Newport took the lead shortly after the hour mark through Iain Seabrook, before Joe Rayner added the home side's fourth.
An eightieth minute Hayling goal was too little too late, and the St George's Park crowd celebrated victory on the first day of the season.
Newport, the only Island team in the Wessex Premier League this season, will look to build some early momentum with another victory away to Totton & Eling on Wednesday night.
