Olympic Art for Island Hospital

Olympic Art for Island Hospital
By Chris Browning Thu, 02 August 2012 3:20PM

The walls of St Mary's Hospital are being brightened by art inspired by the Olympic Games.

Twelve poster designs have commissioned by London 2012 from 12 British contemporary artists to promote the Olympic and Paralympics Games in London this summer are on display outside the hospital's Full Circle Restaurant.

The exhibition is free and after the 2012 Games the posters will go on permanent display at St. Mary’s.

The art is part of the Cultural Olympiad, which runs alongside the sporting action.

Isle of Wight NHS Trust’s Healing Arts Director, Guy Eades, says: 'the Olympics are more than just sport.

'There is a whole range of activity associated with the Olympics and it is good that some of this has been seen on the Island and at St. Mary’s Hospital.

'The work commissioned by London 2012 will brighten NHS walls on the Island for years to come.'
