Man Assaulted In Newport

A 40-year-old man from Newport has received injuries to his jaw following an assault.

The incident occurred between 7.30 and 8pm on Friday July 27 in Nelson Road, Newport.
 
Police were called by paramedics who were treating the victim. He received further treatment at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.
 
Detective Constable Jessica Fleming from Newport police station said: "The assault is thought to have followed a heated dispute in the street between the two men and I would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard the incident."
 
A 37-year-old man from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquires to return to Newport police station on Monday August 13.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact DC Fleming at Newport police station by phoning 101.
