A heavily intoxicated young teenager sparked an emergency call-out for Cowes RNLI lifeboat late last night (Firiday)
A girl, believed to be 13, was reported to be among trees east of the remains of East Cowes Castle, apparently having wandered off from a barbecue.
Paramedics, police andcoastguards found her in a semi-conscious state.
But because of the difficult terrain it wasdecided the best course was to evacuate her by lifeboat.
Alerted by Solent coastguards, Cowes lifeboat was launched at 11.45 pm.
The girl wascarried down the bank, across the beach, and on to the lifeboat by stretcher.
With aparamedic and a police officer also on board, the lifeboat then made for Trinity Landing at Cowes, where an ambulance was waiting to convey the girl to St Mary's Hospital.
The lifeboat, helmed by Patrick Moreton, had been away from station for nearly an hour.
