Power cuts in Ryde, Wootton and Binstead

Thousands of homes in Ryde, Wootton and Binstead are without power this morning (Thursday).

Southern Electric has reported a fault on its main network.

4000 homes affected

At its height nearly 4000 homes were without power although more than half of them have had their power restored.

Traffic lights out

Traffic lights in Wootton were also affected by the outage.

More than 1000 homes in Ryde, Wootton and Binstead were affected by a power cut yesterday morning.

 

Press Statement from Wightlink 

Wightlink’s Portsmouth to Fishbourne route is running approximately 30 minutes behind schedule following a power failure on the Isle of Wight which meant it was not possible to adjust the linkspan to unload. Temporary measures have been deployed until the power is restored.
 
We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

*Homes had there power restored just after two this afternoon.
