Island Grandmother to Receive National Award

The National Childcare Trust is to award Islander Kim Ellis for her work.

 

The chairwoman of the Isle of Wight branch Kim Ellis from Ryde is to receive the NCT Parents' Champion award for the South Central Region.

 

This puts her through to the National finals. Kim beat 13 nominations, she is now in the shortlist against 10 others from around the region.

 

Kim believes she won the regional award because of the way she is making the

activities of the Isle of Wight branch available to grandparents as well as parents.

 

She says, "When mums and dads head out to work, it is often the nanas, gramps

and grandmas who step in to provide childcare."
