Sailing Dinghy Sparks Shipping Lane Alert

Sailing Dinghy Sparks Shipping Lane Alert
By Contributed Thu, 05 July 2012 6:16AM

A sailing dinghy in danger of drifting into the Solent's main shipping lane led to Cowes RNLI lifeboat racing to its aid on Wednesday evening.

The dinghy, sailed by a young man, was virtually becalmed in the light winds near to Bourne Gap Buoy between Calshot and Beaulieu River.

Solent Coastguards called out the Cowes RNLI crew, who arranged for the dinghy to be towed back to Gurnard Sailing Club by the club's safety boat.
