Police are continuing to investigate an allegation of assault in Newport on the Isle of Wight.
According to Hampshire Constabulary, two men approached a dark green 4 x 4 car parked in traffic in Drill Hall Road at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
It’s alleged one of the men opened the driver’s door and assaulted the motorist at the wheel of the 4 x 4, a 41-year-old man from Ryde, Isle of Wight.
The driver received minor injuries to his face.
There is also an allegation that the second man was carrying a baseball bat and damaged a window of the car.
All three men are believed to have been involved in a loud argument, which would have been noticed by other members of the public at a busy time of the day.
A 28-year-old man from Newport, Isle of Wight, was arrested on suspicion of assault. A 26-year-old man from Newport, Isle of Wight was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Both men were bailed until July 10, 2012 pending further enquiries.
