Islanders Set To Watch Flotilla of Ships

Islanders Set To Watch Flotilla of Ships
By Tue, 03 July 2012 11:09AM

People are set to line the northern shores of the Isle of Wight later to watch a flotilla of P&O ships sail out of Southampton.

It's the first time that Oceana, Adonia, Azura, Oriana, Aurora, Arcadia and Ventura will leave the port together.

The event's been organised to mark the 175th year of P&O sailing ships out of Southampton.

RAF Display

An RAF Red Arrows display is set to happen at 19:20 for 25 minutes and will be visible from the Island.

The flotilla of ships will leave Southampton in single file just before 18:30. It's expected they'll be visible past the Island around an hour later.

Advised vantage points are the Parade in Cowes, the front at East Cowes and the seafront at Ryde.
