Doctors on the Isle of Wight are among those across the country taking industrial action today.
The British Medical Association says all non-urgent work will postponed.
In a statement, NHS Isle of Wight says:
“The NHS has robust plans for all types of contingencies, including industrial action. These are tested and kept under continual review to ensure that any impact on patients is kept to an absolute minimum.
“We continue to have a very open dialogue with BMA Representatives in the Trust and expect minimal disruption to NHS services.
“Patients are advised to attend their hospital appointment as planned unless they are contacted. The industrial action only applies to non-urgent cases. All emergency and urgent work including cancer treatment will continue as usual.
All GP practices will be open on Thursday and taking calls, and will provide an emergency service for all clinically urgent matters.”
