Two people on the Isle of Wight have been recognised in the Queen's honours list.
Anthony Howard Norman Roberts has been awarded an OBE for services to the Medical Field, Ornithology and to the community on the Island.
While Dr Mark Denman-Johnson, the Director of Lighthouse Medical Limited, has been awarded an MBE for services to Primary Care.
The British honours system is one of the oldest in the world.
The awards are handed out twice a year; at New Year and in mid-June on the date of The Queen's official birthday.
Anyone can be nominated for an honour but only exceptional people receive one. People from across the United Kingdom receive honours in recognition of outstanding achievement and service to society, including supporting Big Society projects.
