Isle of Wight Cricketer Selected For England

Isle of Wight Cricketer Selected For England Danny Briggs (left) with Isle of Wight Radio's Tom Stroud
By Tue, 12 June 2012 7:00AM

Isle of Wight cricketer Danny Briggs has been selected in the 13-man England squad for their NatWest International T20 match against the West Indies.

It means the Ventnor born 21-year-old has a chance to build on his reputation as one of the finest young cricketers in the country following an impressive International debut in the 4-0 white-wash of Pakistan over the winter - a match in which Briggs took two wickets.

The fixture, which is the only one against that opposition, will take place on Sunday 24 June at Trent Bridge.

The squad was announced yesterday afternoon by the England selectors along with the England ODI squad to face the West Indians in a three-match NatWest Series - the opening fixture of which will take place at the home of Hampshire Cricket - The Ageas Bowl - this Saturday [16 June].
